A common sequence: a business needs a website, so it gets one. Then the socials look unrelated. Then the pitch deck is a different universe. Each piece is fine; together they blur. The missing layer is rarely more design — it is a decided brand.

A brand is a set of decisions

Not a logo, specifically. A brand is a set of decisions about how you sound, what you emphasise and what you refuse. Once those exist, a website stops being a standalone artifact and becomes the loudest expression of them.

The minimum viable brand

  • A mark and the rules for using it
  • A palette with a hierarchy — one voice, two supporting tones
  • A type pairing and a scale
  • Two paragraphs of positioning, written in your voice

With even that much decided, a website project moves faster, costs less and ends more distinctive. Build the brand; then let the website introduce it properly.
