Schedule-US Chess Championship

The Women’s Women comprise GM Irina Krush, GM Anna Zatonskih, GM Ashritha Eswaran, GM Nazi Paikidze, GM Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova, GM Rochelle Wu, and GM Tatev Abrahamyan. It is estimated that the cost of running a 22-round U.S. Championship would be about $17,000 more than for an 11-round tournament, plus a significantly increased prize fund and other expenses.
Many top contestants are already on full-time chess schedules and cannot afford to devote that much additional time to the U.S. Championship if it is held simultaneously.
